A remote cape on the east — get-away-from-it-all quiet, low on services.

  • True solitude
  • Rugged cape scenery and views
  • Far from the day-trip crowds

Laem Tien — 'Tien Cape' — is for the genuinely adventurous. Out on the rugged eastern side, well away from the day-trip flow, it offers solitude and views you won't get on the busy strips, but it asks a lot in return. Access can be rough, services are minimal to none, and you need to be confident, prepared and comfortable being somewhere with no safety net. For experienced visitors who want the island at its wildest and quietest, it delivers exactly that. For everyone else, it's more effort than reward.

The vibe & crowd

Remote and rugged. Often empty. Big on solitude and views, near-zero on infrastructure. For the self-sufficient and adventurous.

The swim

Variable — it depends on the conditions and the exact spot, and there's no one watching out for you. Scout carefully before swimming and don't take risks alone.

The sand

Rugged and rocky in parts rather than a smooth resort strip — a wilder, cape-edge shoreline.

Snorkeling

Rocky areas can reward your own gear, but nothing is organised and conditions vary. For confident, independent snorkelers only.

Water sports

None. This is an off-grid cape, not a serviced beach.

Food nearby

Don't count on any food or drink out here. Bring everything you'll need, including plenty of water.

For it
  • Maximum solitude
  • Rugged scenery
  • No crowds at all
Against it
  • Hard, rough access
  • No services or food
  • Swimming and safety are on you

Local tip: Tell someone where you're going, carry water and a charged phone, and don't push it if the sea or the track looks marginal.

Maybe skip it if: You're not a confident, self-sufficient traveller — almost everyone is better served by Tien or Thong Lang.

Laem Tien Beach FAQ

Quick answers

How do I get to Laem Tien Beach?

By scooter (the access can be rough — experienced riders only) or by arranging a boat drop. There's no easy shared-songthaew route, so it takes planning.

Is Laem Tien good for a first visit to Koh Larn?

No — it's remote, rough to reach and has no facilities. First-timers are far better off at Samae, Tien or Tawaen.

We pay our own way — every ferry, every lounger, every plate of seafood. Nothing on this guide is sponsored, and no operator, resort or restaurant can buy a higher ranking. Businesses can pitch us to be visited; they can't pay for position. That's the whole deal, and it's why you can trust the order.
