The whole point — warm, clear water and gentle bays once you're clear of the boats.

Strip away the parasails and the jet skis and the real reason Koh Larn exists is the swim: warm, clear water and gentle, shelving bays a 40-baht ferry ride from Pattaya. The west and south beaches — Samae, Tien and Nual — give the clearest, calmest water; Tawaen is fine inside its roped zone but busier and murkier. The single most important habit is to stay inside the marked swimming areas and well clear of the boat and jet-ski lanes, which is where the genuine risk on this island lives. Mind the sun, check for any jellyfish notices in the monsoon months, and the swimming here is a simple, reliable pleasure.

How it works

Pick a clear beach, swim inside the roped-off zone, and enjoy. No cost, no gear, no booking — just the warm Gulf and a gentle entry on the best beaches.

Who it's for

Everyone. Strong swimmers can explore the rock edges; families and weaker swimmers should stay in the calm, shallow, marked zones.

What to expect

Warm (often 28–30°C) water, gentle waves on the sheltered beaches, and the best clarity on calm mornings in the dry season.

Safety

Swim inside roped zones, mind boat lanes and currents, watch children closely, heed any jellyfish or red-flag warnings, and don't swim alone on the remote beaches with no services.
